1. I plugged in my USB cable and phone BEFORE I installed the drivers.

You will need to reinstall the USB drivers in this case.

1. Open the Device Manager.
2. Connect the data cable and cell phone to your computer.
3. Click on the + symbol next to: Modems, Ports, Other Devices, and Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
4. There should be a device listed with a yellow exclamation mark next to it.
5. Unplug the data cable from the computer. If the device with the yellow exclamation mark next to it disappears, then you are looking at the correct item. (The name of the device may vary.)
6. Reconnect the data cable and cell phone to the computer.
7. Open the Device Manager.
8. Use your right mouse button to click on the item.
9. Click Update Driver. Click the Install the software automatically (Recommended) option.
10. Click Next and then Finish. The USB drivers should be installed automatically.

2. The USB Drivers do not load how can I install the USB Drivers manually?

Insert the FutureDial Suite CD-ROM into the computer. Choose the Install USB Drivers option. If the drivers do not load properly, follow the steps below.

1. Go to the Device Manager. The installed Help file has detailed steps on how to do this.
2. Connect the data cable to the cell phone and PC.
3. Find the item that shows up in the Device Manager for this phone. It should be listed under one of these options: Modems, Ports, Other Devices, and Universal Serial Bus Controllers.
4. Right click on the device and click Update Driver.
5. Click on the button that Install from a list or specific location (Advanced).
6. Click Next.
7. Check the box that says, Include this location in the search.
8. Click Browse.
9. Look for your CD-ROM Drive. For Windows XP users, click on the + sign next to My Computer. Find the folder that says USB Drivers and click OK. Click Next and then Finish.

3. The USB Drivers are not able to load automatically or manually.

1. Insert the FutureDial Suite CD-ROM into the computer.
2. Choose the Install USB Drivers option.
3. Connect the cell phone to the computer.
4. Verify that the data cable connection is intact and solidly in place.
5. Turn the cell phone off and back on, with the data cable plugged in.
6. If that fails to load the drivers, restart the PC with the data cable and cell phone connected.
7. Go into the Device Manager. (Open FutureDial Suite and choose Help for detailed instructions on how to do this.)
8. With the cell phone and PC connected, look to see if the cell phone is showing as an Unknown Device.
9. Disconnect the cell phone and data cable. If the Unknown Device is no longer in the Device Manager, that is how the computer is seeing your phone.
10. Try to update the drivers for the Unknown Device. (See the installed Help file for instructions.)
11. An Unknown Device indicates a hardware failure - the cable, the USB port or the cell phone itself.

4. I have Cable #50. How do I know if the USB drivers are installed correctly?

1. Go to the Device Manager and look for a device with a yellow question mark. The device will be called either QUALCOMM or LGE.

3. If you have not already installed the USB drivers, follow the steps in Question 2 above to install them. Then go back to the device in question and update the USB drivers. You will go through this step three times with Cable #50.
4. To verify that the USB drivers are installed correctly, look under Modems for a FutureDial USB Modem, under Ports for a FutureDial Diagnostic serial com port driver, and under Universal Serial Bus Controllers for a FutureDial Composite device.
5. If you see any two of these devices, look for an unknown device with a yellow question mark and repeat Steps 1 through 5.

Is one modem faster than the other?

Both modems function the same way.

23. While using FutureDial Suite to access the internet, how am I being charged?

Each wireless carrier has its own rate plan. Most carriers require a data plan to be added on to your wireless voice service. The speed of the connection also plays a role in the monthly subscription cost. Please contact your carrier for more information. FutureDial Suite is designed to be used with each carrier's data service.
