ICSS Support for Sprint Retailers and ASCs
What is the USB Port Calibration Tool?
The first time you use ICSS, you must configure the USB hub system. A SIM Card Reader (supplied by FutureDial) is needed to calibrate the USB Hub. The ICSS program refers to the SIM Card Reader device as the "USB Calibrator." The SIM Card Reader (Part # SIM01U) is shown here.
Before you begin hub port calibration, make sure that the USB Hubs are powered on, connected to the PC, and that no USB phone data cables are plugged into the ports of the USB Hubs. Follow the instructions for calibrating the hubs as shown in the ICSS User Manual.

What is "FDDetectcomm"?
This is the file that handles phone detection and communications. If the user is running version below .114 please update to .117 or higher. You can do this by running the Sanyo 8200 update from www.nascsupport.com website.
Dongle Issue: What if the parallel dongle is not working?
First, re-install the dongle drivers (you may get these by emailing cerickson@futuredial.com). Also, check to see if a parallel expansion card is being used. If you do have a expansion card installed ICSS will not detect the dongle. If the parallel dongle is still not working, exchange it for a USB dongle. You can send in a request to cerickson@futuredial.com.
Note: We must receive the defective dongle before sending out replacement.

I cannot access Windows Installer. What do I do?
This is only for Win 2k users
1. Go to Add\Remove programs in control panel. Remove the Windows installer.
2. Run msiexec.exe /regserver command and reboot the system.
3. Install windows installer 3.1 WindowsInstaller-KB893803-v2-x86.exe
4. Install .net framework

Installation Errors
"Installation" refers to two different aspects.
1. USB driver Installation issues
2. ICSS Application Installation Issues
Installation of the USB drivers might fail if the user does not have administrative status. Installation of the ICSS software entails correct installation of several client and server components (applicable to your ICSS version) and other USB components. Successful installation of these components sometimes requires administrative privileges on the client system. If you do not have these privileges then the installation might fail.

Communication Errors
If the cable being used is a USB cable, the drivers might not be installed correctly and as a result ICSS will not be able to communicate successfully with the phone. Always look in the device manager to see if the phone shows up under the modems option as a "FutureDial USB modem" (as described earlier in this user manual).
Handset Errors
Sometimes the phone being used might be running on a non-supported version of firmware. If this is the case, then FutureDial will need to be contacted to see what the plans are on supporting this version of firmware. There are also cases where settings within the phone need to be manually changed using the phone's keypad to enable successful communication of ICSS with the phone.
Incompatible Handset Firmware Versions
While most handsets have one fixed software version (similar to a PC's operating system), some handsets have multiple versions available commercially in the field. Unfortunately in some cases the changes in the underlying software are so severe that ICSS can not longer read and write phonebook information with such a handset.
FutureDial has identified the following software versions as incompatible with ICSS. In most cases you will be able to ask the user to update their handset software to the latest version, and ICSS will work with the more updated version. In some cases, however, even upgrading firmware to the latest version may not be compatible. The following table lists all the versions that are known to be incompatible with ICSS.

This is the way the application has been designed. A message saying 'Writing PRL is complete' will appear during 'PRL Update' or 'Refurbish' task. It takes approximately 1-2 minutes to disappear after clicking 'OK' button.

Some "Phone Tweaks" for Standard Phones to Work with ICSS
NexTel I730: If you do not have the IDEN USB Drivers loaded the phone will show up and as a blank device in the device manager users must install these drivers prior to connecting this phone.
NexTel I205: User must have IDEN phone drivers installed for this phone to work with ICSS.
Motorola CC290: When the phone is connected to the USB hub, the phone may not be seen by the PC. You can tell by listening to the phone. If it beeps, the PC has detected the phone. If the phone does not beep, you need to remove the cable 40 from the USB hub and connect it to the PC directly, connect the phone to the cable. Once you hear the phone beep you can then connect the cable and phone back into the USB hub.
Sanyo 7400: if phone has been destroyed by ICSS, you can rescue phone by removing battery from phone, hold the "talk" key down, connect battery and dial "load" on keypad, release talk key, phone will be in reuse mode.

Hardware Issues (Hubs and Cables)
- For Nokia and LG handsets, use the OEM drivers to work with the data cables.
- Belkin USB 7-Port Hub: The Belkin Hub is no longer the default USB Hub for ICSS.
- Cable #51: This Cable, for use with Sanyo handset models, will be replaced with Cable #1 (a pure USB cable).
- Connecting Multiple Phones of the Same Model: when connecting multiple phones of the same model to the USB Hub, the "source" or "old" phone must be connected to the lowest USB port (for example, port #3) , and the "target" or "new" phone should be connected to a higher port (for example, port #5, etc.).
- When phones are not connecting to software you can reset phone and try connecting again.
Application Error
If the handset, hardware and communication errors can be ruled out, then the problem will most likely reside with the ICSS application. Such errors will manifest themselves as small problems like data not being intact when transferred over from one phone to another, application crashing when certain actions are performed etc. Such cases should be reported to FutureDial so that we can test and resolve the error as soon as possible.
USB Driver Related Troubleshooting
USB driver installation is a straightforward procedure. However, sometimes after the drivers are installed and a phone with a USB cable is plugged in, the drivers might not load correctly for the phone or the Operating system will have trouble identifying the device. The following are standard procedures for troubleshooting such situations.
Device Manager
Location in Windows where devices attached to the computer are listed. Note that the phone needs to be turned on and connected to the computer through the USB cable in order to be identified by Windows Device Manager.
How to find the Device Manager in Win 2000 or Win XP:
(Win 2000) Click 'Start', select 'Setting" select 'Control Panel' and double click on 'System'. Switch to the 'Hardware' tab and you will see a button that says Device Manager.
(Win XP) Click 'Start', select 'Control Panel' and double click on 'Performance and Maintenance' and double click on 'System'. Switch to the 'Hardware' tab and you will see a button that says Device Manager.
1) Look in the device manager under modems for a listing that says FutureDial Modem. If you don't see this, then this means that the drivers for the phone did not load correctly.
2) In a situation like this, you will need to look for one of the two listings in the device manager.
. An Unknown Device under the Universal Serial Bus (USB) Controllers Option
. An Other Device listing under the device manager (usually with a yellow exclamation mark)
3) For the unknown device - right click on it, select uninstall/remove, unplug the cable, power cycle the phone and then try a different USB port. If you repeatedly get an unknown device then the cable is most likely defective since the OS cannot even recognize it.
4) For the other device listing, you can double click the other device (Qualcomm device, Sanyo device etc.), switch to the driver tab, choose Update Driver and then let the wizard try and find the drivers again. If it still cannot find it you will need to run the USB installer from the CD and try the steps above again.
If all of the above still fails, contact FutureDial to submit a request for technical support. You will typically receive a response from us within the next business day.

ICSS installed but when you try to run the application, you get an Error Code # 100 - Cannot find HASP.
