    3. Where can I find the USB drivers for my cable?
For the Sanyo 8100 after you register a FutureDial serial number you will be able to download the necessary USB drivers to use with our software. Go to the web site and download the latest version of Sanyo8100USB drivers zip file. This new zip file contains an exe file that can be run automatically to install the driver files as opposed to an older one that only contained files with no installer program. It can be found at www.futuredial.com. Look for Customer Support -> Drivers for USB Cables. Click on the link near the text that says: Manual USB Driver Installation (For Advanced Users Only) Download the Sanyo 8100 USB Drivers.

Before you plug the phone into the computer, turn the phone off. (This is very important for the Sanyo 8100)
    Plug it into your computer.
    Turn the phone on.

To test if the USB drivers have been installed, use these steps to get into your Device Manager. Look for the My Computer icon. Right click on it. Choose Properties.

Click on Hardware or Device Manager.
Click on the plus sign next to Modems.
If the USB Drivers are installed you will see a Futuredial USB Modem under Modems.

    4. I bought only the USB Cable how can I get the USB drivers?
If you are just using the USB cable, without FutureDial software, you do not need to use the drivers made for the Sanyo 8100 and Windows XP. Those drivers were written specifically for use with FutureDial software.

The Sanyo drivers should work with any other software and the 8100, however we have not done any testing on other software except for SnapSync, SnapDialer and SnapMedia.

Go to www.futuredial.com, look for Customer Support -> Drivers for USB Cables.
Click on the Manual Driver installation.
    Download the Sanyo 4900/5300 Drivers.
    Run the installer.

Before you plug the phone into the computer, turn the phone off. (This is very important)
    Plug it into your computer.
    Turn the phone on.

These drivers should work with any other software. However, we since we have not tested any other software, we cannot offer any support for using the drivers with other software.

To test if the USB drivers have been installed, use these steps to get into your Device Manager. Look for the My Computer icon. Right click on it. Choose Properties.

Click on Hardware or Device Manager.
Click on the plus sign next to Modems.
If the USB Drivers are installed you will see a Sanyo USB Phone under Modems.

    5. I think I have installed the USB Drivers, is there a way to check to see if my USB cable was installed properly?
Look for your My Computer icon. Use your right mouse button and click on it.
Choose Properties, then choose Hardware or Device Manager.
Click on the Plus sign next to Modems. There should be a Futurdial CDMA Modem or a Sanyo USB Phone.

    6. If my USB drivers are not installed properly how can I fix it?
First, make sure the cable is plugged directly into the computer. If the computer is recognizing an Unknown Device when you connect the Sanyo 8100 to the computer through a USB cable, there are two things to try. Make sure the phone is disconnected from the cable and computer. Turn the phone off and then plug it into the computer. Once it is connected turn the phone on.

Should that not work, restart the computer with the phone plugged in and turned on in your computer. That usually gets the computer to recognize the phone. If the phone continues to show as an Unrecognized Device, there may be a problem with the cable, phone or USB port on the computer.

    7. I have Windows 98SE or ME, no matter what I do, I am not able to load the USB drivers. What can be done?
Look in your Device Manager under the Ports Settings. Look for your My Computer icon. Use your right mouse button and click on it. Choose Properties, then choose Hardware or Device Manager. Click on the Plus sign next to Universal Serial Bus Controllers. If there is a USB Composite Device, double click on it. Then click the Driver tab and then update driver. From there you need to point your computer the folder/CD that has the proper USB drivers to install your device.
